Christopher Wright, né le 30 avril 1954 à Ipswich (Norfolk), est un compositeur anglais.
Il commence sa carrière comme Professeur des écoles 1977-1993 puis dut prendre sa retraite pour des raisons de santé. C'est alors qu'il se mit sérieusement à composer à partir de 1993.

Composée spécialement pour Raphael Wallfisch, cette œuvre en un seul mouvement a été composée en réponse aux émeutes de l'été 2011 en Angleterre et comprend les deux éléments Battle et Lament qui fusionnent tout au long de la pièce. La partition est précédée d'une citation de Martin Luther King qui dit : « Une émeute est au fond le langage de ceux qui ne sont pas entendus. »
