Adolph Martin Foerster (1854-1927)

Adolph Martin Foerster (Pittsburgf, 2 février 1854 - Pittsburgh, 10 août 1927) était un compositeur américain, professeur de musique, historien de la musique et chef d'orchestre.

Issu d'une famille musicale, il commence ses études musicales avec sa mère, et les poursuit  au conservatoire de Leipzig avec Richter. Il retourne ensuite à Pittsburgh, où il enseigne le chant et le piano.

Il écrivit dans un style « vieille école allemande », composant de nombreuses suites, ouvertures et marches festives pour orchestre : un concerto pour violon, deux trios pour piano ; un quatuor avec piano et des pièces pour violon.
