Voilà un auteur dont je ne possède qu'un seul CD par hasard, car il s'agit d'un compositeur que j'ai sponsorisé lorsque je travaillais encore.

pour vous rendre compte.Mais comme il a beaucoup composé il y a d'autres CDs intéressants, dont des Noëls, des ballets, etc....
René Gerber
(29. 06. 1908 - 21. 11. 2006)
René Gerber naquit à Travers (Neuchâtel, Suisse). Dès 1919, il élit domicile à Peseux.
Après sa scolarité obligatoire, il sera étudiant du Gymnase cantonal de Neuchâtel où il obtiendra son baccalauréat.
En 1929, il étudiera à l'Université de Zurich, à la Faculté de Médecine. Il travaille au Conservatoire de Zurich
où il eut comme maîtres Volkmar Andreae pour la composition et Paul Müller pour le contrepoint.
Il se rendra ensuite à l'Ecole Normale de musique de Paris où il travaillera avec Paul Dukas, Nadia Boulanger, Robert Siohan et Pierre Dupont.
De 1940 à 1947, il assume la charge de professeur de musique au Collège latin à Neuchâtel.
De 1947 à 1951, il dirigera le Conservatoire de musique de Neuchâtel qu'il quittera pour se livrer entièrement à la composition,
à sa galerie d'art et à des travaux littéraires.
Il vit à Bevaix depuis 1959. Son écriture musicale est toute à la fois tonale et modale avec quelques emprunts à la polytonalité.
Il se sert des formes traditionnelles pour les œuvres qu'il qualifie de " spontanées " telles que la suite, la sonate, le concerto, la fugue, etc., tandis que pour les œuvres issues d'une source spécifique il recourt à des formes libres.
