Vaclav Trojan (1907-1983)

Václav Trojan (né le 24 avril 1907 à Plzeň - mort le 5 juillet 1983 à Prague) était un compositeur tchèque de musique, surtout connu pour ses musiques de films.

Fils d'un photographe, il a développé un sentiment d'amour de la musique dans un environnement spécifique. Dans les années 1918-1919, il était chanteur au monastère Křižovnický à Prague.
Trojan a ensuite étudié au Conservatoire de Prague avec Jaroslav Křička et Otakar Ostrčil de 1923 à 1927.
Il poursuit ses études dans les masterclasses en composition de Alois Hába, Josef Suk et Vítězslav Novák jusqu'à 1929. D'abord compositeur et arrangeur de danse et de jazz dans les années 1930, il était directeur musical de Radio Prague de 1937 à 1945. Il accepta en 1937 le poste de directeur musical à la radio tchécoslovaque et, à des fins de radiodiffusion, compose des cantates et des groupes de chansons folkloriques qui renforcent la conscience nationale pendant l' occupation.
Après la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Trojan a composé le plus souvent pour le cinéma, la scène et la radio, et a développé une association étroite avec le réalisateur Jiří Trnka, obtenant une renommée internationale pour sa musique pour les films de marionnettes animés populaires de Trnka. Le poème musical basé sur des motifs folkloriques, le Golden Gate, a été la base du traitement scénique des scènes folkloriques.
Il a été artistiquement actif jusqu'à sa mort en 1983, lorsqu'il est décédé d' un arrêt cardiaque soudain.

La musique de Trojan est principalement écrite dans un style néo-classique, et il s'est souvent inspiré des traditions de la musique folklorique tchèque. En 1940, il a reçu le Prix national tchèque pour son remarquable opéra pour enfants Kolotoč (Le Carrousel), et en 1960 le Prix d'État K.Gottwald pour sa musique de ballet Sen noci svatojánské (Le songe  d'une nuit d'été).
