Thomas Pasatieri (né en 1945)

Thomas Pasatieri (né le 20 octobre 1945 à New York) est un compositeur d'opéra américain.

Pasatieri est né à New York, aux États-Unis. Il commence à composer à l'âge de 10 ans et, à l'adolescence, étudie avec Nadia Boulanger. Il est entré à la Juilliard School à l'âge de 16 ans et est finalement devenu le premier récipiendaire d'un doctorat de l'école.

Pasatieri a enseigné la composition à la Juilliard School, à la Manhattan School of Music et au Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. De 1980 à 1984, il a occupé le poste de directeur artistique à Atlanta Opera.

Il a composé 24 opéras, dont le plus connu est The Seagull (La Mouette), composé en 1972. Deux de ses opéras ont été créés en 2007: Frau Margot par le Fort Worth Opera et The Casablanca Hotel à San Francisco. D'autres opéras populaires incluent La Divina et Signor Deluso.

En 1984, Pasatieri a déménagé à Los Angeles, en Californie, où il a fondé sa société de production de musique de film, Topaz Productions. Ses orchestrations de films peuvent être entendues dans Billy Bathgate, Road to Perdition, American Beauty, The Little Mermaid, The Shawshank Redemption, Fried Green Tomatoes, Legends of the Fall, Thomas Newman's Angels in America et Scent of a Woman, entre autres.

En 2003, Pasatieri est retourné à New York pour poursuivre sa carrière de concertiste et d'opéra.
